Wayne County

Cambridge City - Centerville - Richmond

Website
Wayne County Amenities
As you ride through Richmond/Wayne County you’ll explore history and heritage while echoes of the past surround you. The Historic National Road, U.S. 40 Trail has a solid foundation touched by the many pioneers who treked westward. The Madonna of the Trail will be waiting to greet you on the east side at Glen Miller Park.  Historic districts and buildings are a reminder of the hard work and success of the past including what was once known as “Millionaires Row” showcasing the grandeur of homes on East Main Street.

The majestic county courthouse stands boldly near the Whitewater Gorge where the Cardinal Greenway beckons you to take a detour along the riverside.  The Historic Depot District sets just north off the trail where you can find a cozy place to eat or have a refreshing drink and relax a bit.  To the south of the trail,  you just may catch a tune in the air as the land reminisces the former Starr Piano Company and Gennett Recording Studio Buildings.

Heading further westward to Centerville, you’ll encounter the backroads where early 19th century farm homes and sturdy barns still remain.  In town, historic row houses with magnificent archways are dotted along the National Road not found elsewhere in Indiana.
The last part of the Wayne County trail segment is a delight for those who love antiques!
Cambridge City is postcard perfect with antique shops nestled in historic buildings and even a log cabin—and not to mention it’s a great place if you need another break.  Cambridge City has many choices for your taste buds, including Lumpy’s Diner featuring Indiana’s favorite tenderloin sandwich!

Wayne County gives a lengendary status while offering a fresh emerging modern twist for all ages.
